Emma Watson has confessed to being “genuinely terrified” while filming the war scenes for upcoming movie release Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.

The eight-film series reaches a spectacular climax – on July 15, when the movie hits cinemas – with a massive battle scene as Harry, played by Daniel Radcliffe, and his Hogwarts buddies take on the malevolent Lord Voldemort, with Ralph Feinnes in the role, and his Death Eaters followers.

But British actress Emma – who portrays Harry’s pal Hermione Granger in the movies – reckons that the special effects used in the battle scenes felt so real that they left many cast members suffering from actual shock.

The 21-year-old – who will soon be seen in drama movie My Week With Marilyn – told how production staff “put plugs in our ears to protect our eardrums”, although it was still possible to “hear because you’re so close to the bangs”.

Furthermore, Emma added that “there’s this one scene” where bombs were “detonated…right next to us” to leave her “absolutely, genuinely terrified”.

Certainly, Rupert Grint – who stars alongside Emma as Ron Weasley, another of Harry’s friends – was in complete agreement as he recalled that “it turned into a bit of a war film”.

The 22-year-old added that in the movie “we formed this army”, while “the castle is on fire with rubble and bodies littered everywhere”.

Rupert considered that scene “shocking, really” as those left dead “are all kids, as well”.
